BRINGING LIGHT TO A DARK PLACE
LITERALLY

Dear Friend,

On August 1, 2012 through August 12, 2012 a team of volunteers will join together from churches in Illinois and travel to a small village called Bukaleba near Lake Victoria in Uganda to work with the Bukaleba Babies Home orphanage to increase and improve their power supply.

I have the opportunity to join in this effort to improve conditions for the children that are living in the orphanage. I will be joining approximately 18 people who are partnering with Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services of Carmi, Illinois (BCHFS) who will spend their own money and vacation time to travel to the other side of the world to serve those less fortunate.

BCHFS has entered into a partnership with the Bukaleba Babies Home to begin international adoptions from the orphanage. In support of this partnership, BCHFS is coordinating trips to the orphanage to do various projects to maintain and improve their facilities and just care for the children. In August the project will be installing new solar equipment that will increase their power supply from 2 small solar panels and a gasoline powered generator (which is expensive to run) to 26 solar panels and power storage equipment. This will bring a renewable power source to all four buildings at the orphanage.

What is needed?

Additional solar panels and associated equipment that have a total cost of $25,051.00.

How can you help?

We currently have a matching funds grant from the ERM Foundation for $12,525.00 and we need to raise $12,526.00 to receive the grant money. Any monies raised beyond the goal of $12,526.00 will be given directly to the orphanage to support their daily expenses. Donations are needed by early March to allow time for manufacture and shipping of the solar panels and associated equipment.

Please visit BCHFS.com and view the video taken during a trip to the orphanage in 2011 and then consider making a tax deductable donation to help the orphanage install these much needed solar panels. Enclosed is a contribution slip with complete instructions, and a return envelope for your convenience.

Thank you for your time and your thoughtful consideration of this worthy cause.
